Although many women are looking to augment the size of their breasts, others are actually more interested in reducing the size of their chest. While many women would never dream of doing this, there are actually several logical reasons to contemplate getting a breast reduction.
WHAT IS BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY?
As its name indicates, this particular procedure (which is also known as a reduction mammaplasty) is a cosmetic surgery designed to reduce breast size by eliminating unneeded tissue and underlying fat while still maintaining an attractive shape and natural proportions. A breast reduction surgery works fantastically for women with:
- Overly large breasts that lead to a disproportionate or unbalanced frame
- Breasts that lead to pain (usually felt in the back, shoulders, and neck) due to their excessive weight
- Confidence issues or bodily insecurities due to developing large breasts at a young age
THERE ARE TWO MAIN TYPES OF BREAST REDUCTIONS
Surgical Breast Reductions
In this procedure, small incisions are made under the breast and around the areola to allow for the removal of excess breast tissue and repositioning of the nipple.
Liposuction Breast Reductions
With this option, a liposuction process is used to remove excess fat from the breasts. While this is less invasive than the surgical option, it can’t actually alter the breast tissue itself. It should also be noted that a breast reduction procedure is often paired with a breast lift in order to keep everything as tight and aesthetically pleasing as possible.
